@01:59Ah, I didn't know that. When I compared it with your cut-out one, the animation styles just didn't seem to match up, but now I see why. You have some good stuff going and look forward to your finished 3D stuff in the future.

:D That's what I was aiming for, so I'm glad it worked.
Make the hero seem unbeatable and then bring him down in an instant :D

Thanks ^_^

@01:03wow that section was really good, the whole jumping on the robot and jumping again and right into a run again, that all went really well

@01:20No, his middle name is awesome. XD I wanted to show him surviving impossible situations in preparation for the end. Being an animation can allow the story to get away with things like this. ^_^

@00:14Good point. I have to admit that this was one of the parts of the animation that got the least attention and it does show.

Silhouette animation where everything is made using card and shot frame by frame. No digital animation involved.

here's a development photo showing off all the card models used: [link]

An over-confident space hero enters the scene to get hs hands on a valuable gem stored inside a facility guarded by various sentry bots. With his trusty blaster he begins his mission...

My final piece for my experimental animation module.
I chose to use Lotte Reinigers as I enjoyed making the Jack and the beanstalk anmation in the group work.

This time I was working on my own and had to aim for 30-60 second piece. I already had a strong idea in my head and once storyboarded it would take a minimum of 90 seconds to tell it.

So here's the end result ^_^ Really proud of this piece and had great reception from my class. It's a shame I won't be doing anymore of this as I really enjoyed the technique/ style of animation.

Time taken to shoot: around 40-50 hours
Overall time spent on project: 2 weeks

"Using nothing but cut-out pieces of paper cards, this piece has absolutely no touch-ups post shooting. The effort, the execution, the style all scream Daily Deviation" ( Suggested by ~jade161588 and Featured by `InpuUpUaut )

@01:59That must have taken forever to do with cut-outs. Pretty remarkable!

@01:59thanks. it took 2 days to build the pieces and between 1 and a half weeks to 2 weeks to animate. For animation, not quite so bad in terms of animation in general. it's a much easier style than say animating in 2D as you need to draw out every frame.

Thanks for the fave too

@01:59It's very similar with how you do it in Flash. A lot of cartoon shows in Flash use the "cut-out" method, where you have a big library of parts that make up the characters and you animate them. It's how I did a majority of my Tooth & Claw series. Of course, you can't do that with everything, so there were times here and there I had to do certain "parts" frame by frame.
You can do the frame by frame method in Flash, like you did with the stop motion, or you can use the key-pose & tween method like I do. I figure out what it is I want the character to do, set up all my timing in the keyposes, set up my tweens, then break those down when I need to, to add more animation principles on the fly. Plus with Flash it's easy to fix stuff cause you get instant feedback and nothing is set in stone.
You'd probably be pretty good with it once you got the hang of it.

@01:59I already have done that ^_^ Check out my beat's audition animation. That was using the style you described :) I've used flash quite a bit, just havent bothered uploading many and I only have beat's audition uploaded on here (and it was uploaded in really bad quality for some reason) but I know exactly what you mean ^_^
